About Tasman Helicopters
Tasman Helicopters has an exemplary safety record and years of experience flying in the top of the South Island.
Our focus is on safety, comfort and service.
Our luxury Eurocopter is designed to offer premium comfort, a quiet ride and great visibility for our passengers.
We are proud to be the only holders of safety and security clearance to transport members of the British Royal Family when they visit the region and have provided transport to many celebrities and VIPs.
We are based at Nelson Airport and also have services from St Arnaud but we fly the whole Nelson/Tasman/West Coast region.
Tasman Helicopters is owned and operated by Logan Moore, who flew as a pilot for the company before taking over ownership in 2012.
Veteran pilot Willie Sage, who works with Logan, has over 12000 hours of flying experience in everything from fixed wing to helicopters, and has flown throughout the Pacific region.
Tasman Helicopters number-one work machine is a Eurocopter EC 120B and we also operate a Robinson 44.
Manufactured by Eurocopter – a subsidiary of EADS – our flagship helicopter is spacious and quiet with a luxuriously comfortable interior and is capable of a cruising speed of up to 240km/h. Designed in close cooperation with tourism operators, the 120B features “Fenestron” cowled tail rotor blades, which reduce noise by 50%, and a spacious cockpit, which allows excellent all-round visibility, making this craft a great choice for tourist flights.
Manufactured by Robinson – the R44 carries four people including the pilot . It has extremely good visibility for all passengers and cruses at a speed of over 200 km/h. This helicopter is ideal for smaller groups and we use it for hunting, fishing and scenic flights.
