This tour – run with outdoor adventure specialists Simply Wild –  offers the option of touching down for a gourmet lunch on the summit of Mount Owen (which was the location chosen for Dimrill Dale). This tour can also include Mount Olympus – which also features in the films – and the Boulder Lake with its cascade before returning to base. The extended tour includes a flight over Harwood’s Hole, New Zealand’s largest natural sinkhole. Its initial entry shaft alone descends 183 metres and exploration of its depths is still continuing by experienced cavers.
